Physiotherapy Services
At The Running Specialists, Physiotherapy is more than treatment — it’s about finding the root cause of your problem and giving you the tools to move with confidence again.
Drawing on almost 25 years of clinical experience across musculoskeletal physiotherapy, rehabilitation, and sports performance, we offer tailored care for a wide range of conditions.

Specialist Physiotherapy for Mums Returning to Exercise
As parents, our own fitness goals often fall to the bottom of the list. Between the demands of family life and the physical changes that follow childbirth — especially after a caesarean — it’s easy to feel disconnected from your body and unsure where to start.
But movement can feel good again.
It can be controlled, confident, and even joyful.
At The Running Specialists, we offer a 6-week physio-led running technique and recovery programme specifically designed to help mothers return to exercise safely after birth — with specialist input at every step.
Led by Julia Rowe, a pelvic MSK physiotherapy specialist with over 20 years of clinical experience and a mum of four herself, this programme is grounded in both expert knowledge and lived insight. Julia combines her background in core control, pelvic biomechanics, and postnatal rehabilitation to help women recover from the inside out — especially after surgical births or abdominal trauma.

TESTIMONIALS
Hi Julia, thank you so so much for both the physio help and experience of the gait analysis. In terms of remembering advice I found it particularly helpful to be watching in real time and then the follow up video. I can imagine a big market from amateur and professional runners to other physio / doctor referrals for walking posture that increases mobility -Christian S
Just wanted to say thanks for the gait analysis. Tried to put one of your recommendations into action today. Felt faster but limited by how much I could do before things started to hurt. Will take a couple of months to adapt Once I think I've successfully made the change, I'd be interested in another session to reevaluate.- Paul R
"In 2015 I picked up a knee injury during the Paris marathon and went to Julia May for her physiotherapy assessment and advice. Julia is a great listener and teased from me my training, the type of discomfort I was feeling, its trigger points and she also looked at my functional movements. Jules gave me a number of exercises which I worked hard at to increase the stability around the knee. I was back running and able to compete again later that season. Jules showed herself to be knowledgeable, patient (with my questions), confident, sincere and caring. I would 100% recommend Julia and The Running Specialists."

“Jules is an amazing Pilates teacher, taking us back to basics so we were able to master all the exercises properly even though we had all done Pilates before. Her determination to get us to do the exercises properly is fantastic to ensure were always the most out of the sessions.

Two decades of bad posture left me with a persistent ache in my upper back that one day flared into an agony that I could no longer ignore. I tried all my usual remedies with the foam roller, better posture, paracetamol, and they simply didn’t work. Enter Jules! Two acupuncture sessions with her and the pain simply disappeared. Nearly a year later, it still hasn’t returned. Thank you, Jules!

I went to see Julia for physio in an attempt to build strength in advance of a hip operation. After 5 weeks the additional strength and conditioning had taken pressure off the hip and eliminated the pain and irritation. I subsequently decided to cancel the operation and have maintained some degree of the exercises to ensure I can continue to run pain and operation free.
